Tokyo police to mobilize up to 18,000 officers for Trump's visit
US President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Japan from October 27 to 29.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department said it will establish a special headquarters led by the deputy superintendent general and mobilize up to 18,000 personnel for security operations related to Trump’s visit.
The headquarters will collect and analyze information pertaining to lone offenders as there has been a growing number of terrorist incidents carried out by individuals without ties to specific organizations.
Members of the security operations will also conduct vehicle inspections and proactively question people.
Their activities will also include reinforcing security at major train stations in Tokyo and putting large-scale traffic restrictions in place.
