Restaurant apologizes after customer finds snail in pizza

Japanese family restaurant chain Joyfull apologized after a customer found a snail in their food.

On April 18, a customer said they found a snail in a pizza that they had ordered at a location in Shimane Prefecture.

Joyfull said on its website that the snail that was in the baby leaves that were used in the pizza was not removed when they were washed.

The snail was also missed during the check before it was served to the customers.

The store immediately apologized to the customer, but a video showing the pizza with the snail was later posted online. Joyfull reported the incident to the health department on April 21.

The operator said it will take the situation very seriously, and do its best to regain trust from its customers and do the utmost to prevent recurrence.
