Magnitude 5.0-earthquake rattles Japan

An earthquake measuring lower 5 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale struck the Kanto region shortly after 10:00 a.m. There is no tsunami concern.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the quake occurred at around 10:06AM with its epicenter in southern Ibaraki Prefecture.

A quake measuring lower 5 on Japan's seismic intensity scale was observed in the city of Mooka in Tochigi Prefecture. Quakes measuring 4 on the country’s seismic intensity scale was recorded across a wide area including Ibaraki, Tochigi, Saitama, Chiba, and Fukushima prefectures.

The magnitude is estimated at 5.0, and the depth of the hypocenter was approximately 50 kilometers. There is no tsunami concern.
