I'm now inside the Sagrada Familia. Pope Leo XIV will also visit the basilica to celebrate Mass.
The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona marked a major milestone on June 10 with the completion of its main tower, the Tower of Jesus Christ.
The ceremony coincided with the 100th anniversary of the death of the basilica’s architect, Antoni Gaudi.
Pope Leo XIV joined thousands of Catholic faithful at a memorial Mass honoring Gaudi’s legacy.
The pope praised Gaudi’s vision and thanked the many people who helped bring the project to this stage.
Standing 172.5 meters tall, the Tower of Jesus is now the centerpiece of the world-famous basilica.
Construction of the Sagrada Familia has continued for more than 140 years.
Work will now focus on the basilica’s main entrance, with full completion expected in about a decade.
