Final H2A locket launches from Japan before it retires

S/ Isowaki Takuma, Reporter/ The rocket has lifted off!

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency successfully launched the 50th and final version of the H2A rocket, the system that has supported Japan's space industry for 24 years.

The final rocket lifted off from Tanegashima Space center in Kagoshima Prefecture in southwestern Japan on June 29 at around 1:30AM.

The H2A carried a climate observation satellite that successfully entered orbit.

S/ Yamakawa Hiroshi, JAXA President/ It completed its purpose as the final rocket. It is deeply moving for JAXA.

The success rate of the launch was 98%.

The H2A rocket that held the title for the world's most reliable rocket has now retired and passed the torch to the H3 rocket.
