Son of executed Aum cult founder deemed as effective leader of Aleph

Japan's Public Security Intelligence Agency has deemed the second son of executed Aum Shinrikyo doomsday cult founder Matsumoto Chizuo as the effective leader of Aum’s successor group Aleph.
The agency made the remarks as it asked the Public Security Examination Commission on July 22 for regulatory measures against Aleph as the organization has not provided required reports of its activities.
According to the agency, Matsumoto's second son claims to be a second-generation guru and is effectively leading the operations of Aleph, while the founder's wife is in a position of assisting the son as his guardian.
Investigative sources said the agency tried to inspect the apartment where Matsumoto's wife and second son live in Saitama Prefecture in March, but the residents refused to let agents in.
The agency then filed a complaint with the Saitama prefectural police.
Police officers searched the apartment unit in April and found tens of millions of yen in cash.
