Princesses Kiko and Kako attend concert supporting cancer patients
On April 19, Crown Princess Kiko and her daughter Princess Kako attended a cancer charity concert in Tokyo.
A total of 193 people, including cancer patients, their family and medical personnel, sang Ode to Joy from Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, accompanied by an orchestra.
The concert series was launched in 2017 to provide support for cancer patients, healthcare workers and medical institutions.
The performance was followed by a talk by actress and TV personality Akino Yoko about her experience of battling cancer.
Kiko is the wife of Crown Prince Fumihito of Akishino, who is the younger brother of Emperor Naruhito and first in line to Japan's chrysanthemum throne.
