A 34-year-old Peruvian national was arrested after driving wrong way on an expressway and fleeing after a collision accident.

The suspect is believed to have caused a collision with two passenger cars on May 18 and failed to report the accident on an expressway in the City of Kameyama in Mie Prefecture.

He was driving against the direction of traffic at the time of the accident. He has admitted to contraflow driving, but claims he only hit one vehicle.

A large truck and other vehicles rear-ended a passenger car that had stopped after seeing the suspect driving the wrong way.

Four people were injured.
