Japanese city overrun by wild monkeys
In this footage captured on February 25, you can see a wild monkey on a bridge. Or another one walking calmly through the streets of Kagoshima in southwestern Japan.
Nagata Risa, NNN Reporter: The monkey was spotted on a street in the Yamanokuchi area. Nearby are a hospital and restaurants.
Sightings of the wild monkeys have been reported one after the other since February 24.
Other footage shows a money entering an apartment building’s parking area, before leaping energetically onto the windshield of a car parked there.
Monkey Witness: Without any sign of aggression, the monkey just walked along, absorbed in its own world.
21 sightings have been reported from February 24 to 25 in the city of Kagoshima, but no monkey related damages have been reported so far.
City officials are urging residents to avoid making eye contact or provoking wild monkeys when they encounter them.
