US, S. Korea build bridge during joint military exercise
Nishiyama So, NNN correspondent / Armored vehicles are driving across from the opposite shore using a temporary bridge constructed by the U.S. and South Korean forces.
More than 250 military members took part in the U.S.-South Korea joint military exercise that was held between August 18 and August 28.
A temporary bridge was constructed across a 280-meter-wide river using equipment from both sides, with armored vehicles driving across the bridge as well.
Some of the field training for the joint exercise have been postponed until September, prompting speculation that the decision was made by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung.
Lee has previously pledged to improve relations with Pyongyang.
North Korea’s Kim Jong-un has criticized the exercises as the most hostile and confrontational.
