Emperor Naruhito hosts Autumn Garden Party in Tokyo

The Autumn Garden Party was held by Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako at the Akasaka Imperial Gardens on the afternoon of October 28.

Approximately 1,500 distinguished guests who have rendered service in their various fields attended the annual event.

Joining the Imperial couple were 10 members from the Imperial Family including Princess Aiko, Crown Prince Fumihito, Crown Princess Kiko, Princess Kako, and others.

Empress Masako and the other female members of the Imperial Family wore kimonos at the garden parties last autumn and spring but wore colorful Western attire this time.

Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae was also in attendance but left early as to attend to her diplomatic schedule with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Guests included multiple title winning horse jockey Take Yutaka, Living National Treasure Wajima lacquerware craftsman Yamagishi Kazuo, former chairman of the Japanese Federation of the Deaf Ishino Fujisaburo, and others.

The Emperor and Empress had friendly chats with several of the guests as they enjoyed the warm 20°C weather.
