Masked man robs supermarket in Osaka as security camera captures moves

This supermarket had closed for the day.

Just then, a man with a full mask on came into the empty store.

He was wearing a black hoodie over his head, with the white mask covering the opening.

He held what appeared to be a knife in his hand.

He went further into the store while looking around.

He apparently reached an area where a store clerk was working.

A woman's screaming voice was heard.

The robbery occurred at a supermarket in Osaka, western Japan, in the early hours of September 9.

According to police, a female clerk was checking inventory alone in the stockroom when the masked man approached.

He held a knife to her neck from behind and said, “Give me money.”

He threatened the clerk and demanded money.

The two went over to the cash register.

The security camera footage shows the man near the register.

The store clerk unlocked the cash register and ran outside to seek help.

The man also left the store just after the clerk and fled.

It was a matter of about 90 seconds after the man entered the store.

The supermarket was robbed of about 210,000 yen in cash.

The female clerk was not injured in the incident.

The police said the perpetrator is about 30 to 40 years old, about 175 centimeters tall and slender.

He was wearing a black hoodie and carrying a black backpack.

Police are pursuing his whereabouts.
