Police received numerous reports that a jet plane crashed in a lake in Aichi Prefecture on May 14.

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi Yoshimasa told a regular news conference that the Air Self-Defense Force's training aircraft T-41 that took off from the Komaki Base in the prefecture crashed shortly after. 

The aircraft that crashed had two passengers, according to sources. 

The Defense Ministry is currently investigating the details of the crash.
