Japan's Emperor Naruhito couple welcomes Philippine President Marcos
A welcoming ceremony was held at the Imperial Palace for Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Marcos on May 27.
Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako greeted President Marcos and his wife, who are visiting Japan as state guests, at the Imperial Palace.
During the ceremony, the national anthems of both countries were performed. The Filipino President later received a formal salute from the honor guard.
Following the ceremony, the imperial couple held talks with the presidential couple in the Imperial Palace.
An Imperial Banquet is scheduled for the evening of May 27, which will be attended by members of the Imperial Family and cabinet ministers.
Prince Hisahito, the eldest son of Crown Prince Fumihito, will also join the banquet welcoming a state guest for the first time.
