Princess Kako interacts with University of Brasilia students of Japanese language and culture

Princess Kako interacted with students of the Japanese language and culture at the University of Brasilia on June 12.

The university was established two years after Brazil's capital was moved to Brasilia in 1960.

In the Japanese department, about 170 students are studying the Japanese language and culture.

The princess listened to presentations by students, including one whose interest in the Japanese culture led him to teach shamisen, a three-stringed Japanese instrument.

S/ Princess Kako / Thank you for your presentation. Looks like you're involved in various activities.

S/ Student / A bit.

S/ Princess Kako / You're also teaching?

S/ Student / Yes.

Kako expressed joy to hear that some of the students are fans of the "ONE PIECE" anime and Vocaloid synthetic voice singing.

This was the eighth day of her official visit to Brazil, and the capital of Brasilia was the sixth city she has stopped at so far in the South American country.

The princess is a niece of Emperor Naruhito and second daughter of Crown Prince Fumihito.
