Nissan plans to cut around 20,000 jobs worldwide

Nissan Motor, which is currently undergoing business restructuring, has decided to cut approximately 20,000 jobs both domestically and overseas.

According to sources, Nissan has additionally decided to cut more than 10,000 jobs worldwide as part of its restructuring efforts in response to deteriorating performance due to sluggish sales in the United States and other factors.

During the interim financial results for the previous fiscal year, the company announced plans to cut 9,000 jobs.

The latest plans will bring the total number of jobs to be cut globally approximately 20,000. The job cuts represent approximately 15% of Nissan's total workforce of approximately 130,000 employees.

Nissan is scheduled to announce its financial results on May 13, reporting a consolidated net loss of up to 750 billion yen, approximately 5 billion U.S. dollars.
