World's first Pokémon airport opens as Ishikawa's Noto Airport gets makeover

On July 7, Noto Airport in Ishikawa Prefecture rebranded with the nickname "Noto Satoyama Pokémon with You Airport."

Officials said this is the world's first airport that uses Pokémon in its name.

The airport terminal features a giant Pikachu balloon riding on the back of an inflatable airplane and Pokémon characters painted on the walls.

There are also Pokémon statues that welcome visitors.

On July 7, Pikachu made an appearance to greet passengers arriving from Tokyo's Haneda Airport.
