NY-based Japanese doctor extradited and arrested for vandalizing temple and shrine in Japan

A Japanese doctor based in New York has been extradited from the United States to Japan for vandalizing a temple and a shrine in Chiba Prefecture in 2015.
Kanayama Masahide had been wanted for allegedly spilling oil-like liquid at Narita Shinshoji Temple and Katori Jingu shrine.

Sources said he had previously made comments suggesting he had poured oil at multiple temples and shrines in Japan to purify them.
Japanese police arrested Kanayama during his flight to Japan on suspicion of property damage.
Investigators said the suspect has admitted to the allegations, saying he has no objections to them.
