Emperor takes in ballet performance of 'Giselle' with artistic director Yoshida
Emperor Naruhito took in a ballet performance of "Giselle" by the National Ballet of Japan at the New National Theatre in Tokyo on April 18.
He watched the show with artistic director Yoshida Miyako, who served as a principal ballerina at The Royal Ballet in the United Kingdom.
Yoshida made her artistic director debut with "Giselle" in 2022.
The National Ballet of Japan is scheduled to perform it at The Royal Opera House in London in July.
The emperor clapped his hands at the end of the show and had a chat with Yoshida and the performers.
S/ Yoshida Miyako, Artistic Director, National Ballet of Japan / His Majesty kept applauding during the numerous curtain calls.
Officials said the emperor praised the crew for their wonderful performance and wished them success in London.
