Japanese Emperor and Empress visit hospital, chat with Japanese people in Mongolia
Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako visited the Mongolia–Japan Hospital on July 9.
It is the first university-affiliated hospital in Mongolia built with Japanese funds.
It works together with Tokushima University and Ehime University in education and training programs for human resource development.
Emperor Naruhito asked a Mongolian surgeon who had studied at Miyazaki University what kind of cancer is common in Mongolia.
The surgeon explained that lung cancer and stomach cancer are common.
Empress Masako asked a nurse who studied at a Japanese nursing school why she studied in Japan.
The imperial couple later met with Japanese people living in Mongolia, including Kon Aya, who has been publishing a Mongolian information magazine in Japanese.
The Emperor and Empress asked her what she wanted to tell Japanese people through her magazine.
