Princess Kako plants cherry tree, meets Nikkei in Brazil
Princess Kako visited Campo Grande on day 6 of her official visit to Brazil.
The area, which became the fifth city for the princess to visit in this trip, is home to many descendants of Japanese immigrants from Okinawa.

She also planted a Kanhi-zakura cherry tree which is a popular tree in Okinawa.
Princess Kako later attended a welcoming ceremony by Nikkei Japanese Brazilians, where she received an honorary award commemorating her visit.
She was seen shaking hands with the elderly participants and speaking with them.
She also visited a school attended by Nikkei students, and interacted with students who were taking a class on Japanese culture.
