More than 20,000USD a night, Imperial Hotel opens in Kyoto: Luxury Meets Tradition in Gion
The Imperial Hotel Kyoto was built by rennovating Yasaka Kaikan, a nationally registered tangible cultural property adjacent to Gion Kobu Kaburenjo in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City. Parts of the exterior walls and decorative elements of Yasaka Kaikan have been reused in the new structure. The luxury hotel has a total of 55 rooms.
Room rates start from ¥164,50,$1,120 USD, per night, and the top-tier “Imperial Suite”, which offers a panoramic view of the Gion district, costs 3 million yen, or $20,400 in USD, per night, making it more expensive than other Imperial Hotels. The rooftop also has a special bar exclusively for hotel guests.
A public relations representative said that they hope guests will enjoy Japan’s traditions and history through their stay in Gion, Kyoto, a center of culture.
