Man arrested after posting video of pouring liquid on rotating sushi
A man has been arrested after allegedly pouring a liquid believed to be dish soap onto sushi at a popular conveyor-belt sushi restaurant and posting the video online.
The footage quickly spread across social media, drawing widespread criticism.
According to police, the 43-year-old suspect is accused of disrupting business operations at a branch of the major conveyor-belt sushi chain Hama Sushi in Saitama Prefecture on May 27.
The suspect allegedly filmed himself pouring the liquid onto an ordered menu item before uploading the video to social media.
Police say he has admitted to the allegations, and said that he wanted to increase his social media views.
He has also reportedly stated that the liquid inside the container was water.
Hama Sushi’s operator condemned the act, saying that it cannot tolerate such disruptive behavior under any circumstances and that it will continue to cooperate fully with the police investigation.
