Mystery 150-meter hose washes ashore on Japan's Noto Peninsula
A massive industrial hose has washed ashore on the coast of Shika Town in Ishikawa Prefecture's Noto Peninsula region.
Stretching across the shoreline like a giant black snake, the hose measures approximately 150 meters in length and about 2 meters in diameter.
Its unusual appearance has attracted attention from visitors.
A closer look reveals significant deterioration. The steel pipe running through the center of the hose is heavily rusted, while the outer rubber covering has broken down in several places.
Material resembling styrofoam can be seen exposed through the damaged sections.
The name of a Chinese hose manufacturer is printed on the exterior.
According to Ishikawa Prefecture, the hose first washed ashore in December 2025.
Authorities contacted the Chinese company believed to have manufactured it in an effort to identify the owner. However, no information regarding its origin or ownership could be obtained.
The prefecture plans to begin removal operations on June 15, and hopes to complete the work by around autumn.
