Man arrested after he deliberately rams into school kids

A 28-year-old Tokyo resident was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after he drove into a group of elementary school students in Osaka on May 1.

He is suspected of attempting to kill seven pupils by running them over with a rental car.

5 second-graders and 2 third-graders were brought to the hospital for treatment after they were run over.

Two children were seriously injured with one with a broken lower jaw. Five of them sustained minor injuries.

It pulled over slowly, and it kept moving even when a child got caught between the wall and the car. It ran over a few kids but kept driving.

The Tokyo resident was driving sober in a car that he had rented in Osaka two days prior to the crash.

He said that he was fed up with everything, so he rammed into the group of children to kill them, according to investigators.

Investigators have confirmed that there were no brake marks at the scene.

The suspect has told police that he had been working as a radiology technician until April, but had voluntarily resigned.

The elementary school said it will be providing emotional care for its students on May 2.
