Man crashes a car, steals another and gets into a fatal collision on a Tokyo expressway

This video was taken on the Metropolitan Expressway on July 8.

Car fragments were scattered on the road, and just ahead, a black car was parked on the side.

The car had collided with a wall on the expressway that serves the Tokyo area.

A witness notified the police, saying that a car collided with a wall and that his own car got stolen.

Tokyo police said that after the accident, an orange minicar stopped in front of the black car.

The minicar driver went out to see what had happened.

Then the driver of the black car came over to the orange minicar, got on it and assaulted its driver who tried to stop him.

The man drove off in the orange car.

About 5 minutes later, fragments were similarly found scattered inside a tunnel on the expressway.

Just ahead was what is believed to be the orange minicar that was stolen.

The minicar had collided into a wall here as well.

The car was flipped on its side, indicating the extent of the impact.

A man in his 30s suspected of stealing this car died in the second accident.

The police are investigating the two collisions and how they may be related.
