Multiple Snow-Related Accidents Leave Dead and Injured Across Japan

In Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, a man’s body was found dead, buried in the snow.

According to police, shortly after 6:30 p.m. on February 4th, a neighbor reported that the man had not been seen for about two days. Police believe he may have fallen while clearing snow from his roof and are investigating the circumstances.

Meanwhile, in Kuroishi City, Aomori Prefecture, just before 4:30 p.m. on February 4th, a phone call to police was made reporting that  “a man is buried in snow behind a house and is not moving.” The man was later confirmed dead.

He is believed to have been engaged in snow removal work since around midday, and police are examining the circumstances surrounding the accident.

In Sapporo, Hokkaido, on the night of February 4th, a male worker in his 50s who was guiding snow removal operations on a city road was struck by a passenger vehicle.

The man was taken to the hospital in a dazed state, with impaired consciousness.
