M 6.6 earthquake rocks southwest Japan

/ I am in Ainan Town, which recorded a seismic intensity of lower 6. We can see that some tombstones in this graveyard have broken, or have been toppled due to the earthquake. It shows how big the quake was.

A magnitude 6.6 earthquake rocked Ehime Prefecture in southwestern Japan on April 17.

Ainan observed an intensity of lower 6, and Uwajima an upper 5 on the Japanese seismic scale. The operation of Ikata Nuclear Power plant has not been largely affected due to the quake, according to its operator.

Locals in the prefecture, including a restaurant owner in Uwajima City, was busy cleaning up more than 300 broken dishes.

Five people have reported minor injuries in the prefecture as of April 18 morning.
