Plum trees are in full bloom at Kairakuen Garden in Mito, Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo.
Kairakuen, known as a plum blossom spot, is considered one of Japan's three most famous gardens along with Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, and Korakuen in Okayama.
The ongoing Plum Festival at Kairakuen features about 3,000 plum trees of around 100 varieties.
The city of Mito recently had rain and snow, but the sky cleared up on March 6 and many visitors came to take in the scenery.
