Snowfall in eastern Japan caused traffic and delays in Tokyo on March 4.

S/ NTV Reporter/ It is just before 9 PM. It has started to snow intensely in Shibuya. It’s snowing so intensely that snow has begun to pile on the umbrellas of pedestrians.

Snow was seen sticking to coats and umbrellas as many young people walked through the streets of Shibuya.

One centimeter of snow was measured in central Tokyo by 10 PM.

Snowfall was also seen at Omiya Station in Saitama Prefecture, just north of Tokyo.

S/ NTV Reporter/ The queue of people waiting for the bus continues up the stairs at Omiya Station.

Many cars arrived at the station for pick up.

S/ Son/ It’s snowing so I was picked up.

S/ Mother/ He usually rides a bicycle to his lessons, but it’s scary.

S/ Worker/ My company also said we should go home early and that we should work from home tomorrow. So, I ended work early today.

According to the fire department, three people in their 50s to 80s were injured in Saitama due to a snow-related fall.

The three were sent to the hospital and are in stable condition.

Preventative road closures were put in place on expressways surrounding the nation’s capital to prevent large-scale congestion.

A Tokyo taxi company was also experiencing the effects of the snow.

Yamato Transport and Sagawa Express, two of Japan’s major transportation and delivery companies, said there is a possibility of delay due to the preventative road closures.

Japan Post also said that package deliveries may be delayed and that services may be temporarily suspended depending on road conditions.
