Japan's emperor and empress have dinner with visiting Swedish king
Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako had dinner with visiting Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on May 15.
Officials said the imperial couple's daughter Princess Aiko joined them in their after-meal chat.
The king was in Japan for activities involving Sweden's National Day at the Osaka Expo in western Japan on May 14.
Japan's Princess Akiko of Mikasa also took part in Sweden’s National Day celebrations.
Carl Gustaf has been on the Swedish throne for more than 50 years.
He made his first visit to Japan during the 1970 Osaka Expo and has since traveled to the country nearly 20 times.
The king attended the enthronement ceremonies for Naruhito in 2019 and his father Emperor Emeritus Akihito in 1990.
