7-Eleven gives inside look at robot integration at select location
Japanese convenience store giant 7-Eleven gave an inside look at a select store of robots and machines taking over tasks usually performed by human employees.
The machinery cleaned windows and floors and restocked drinks on shelves.
This robot integration is expected to cut one employee’s daily worktime by about 30 percent.
A virtual avatar is used for customer service where a human employee may assist from a different store if needed.
7-Eleven aims to use the time saved from this initiative for product promotion and store management.
Convenience store chains such as Lawson and FamilyMart are also integrating robots and machines for efficiency and labor shortage.
