Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko visited the World Expo 2025 venue in Osaka on March 12.

The Crown Prince serves as the event’s honorary president.

The imperial couple enjoyed a panoramic view of the venue from the top of the “Grand Roof Ring.”

They also went inside the Japan Pavilion themed “circulation” and saw the water basin.

Crown Princess Kiko said she was able to hear the sound of water.

When Crown Prince Fumihito asked how the water in the basin was generated, he received an explanation that microorganisms decompose waste in the pavilion and convert it into water.

Crown Prince Fumihito and Crown Princess Kiko will attend the opening ceremony on April 12 together with Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako.

Emperor Naruhito will announce the opening of the event.
